INTER-SESSION WORKSHOP SCHEDULE  

APRIL 21 – MAY 3, 2014

 

HEALTHY AGING – HOW TO KEEP YOUR GROOVE GOING (Wednesday, April 23, 12-12:40pm):  An entertaining presentation designed to inspire you to keep moving or get moving. Based on the latest research findings on aging and exercise, in this workshop techniques are demonstrated and practiced.  Presentors:  Joan Brame and Joan Malchow.  FREE

TAI CHI INTRO (Thursday, April 24, 11-11:45am):  Come and learn about Tai Chi from the perspective of a long time student. In this workshop you will also learn and perform some basic Tai Chi postures.   Presentor:  Lois Bolcsak.  FREE

NAMI BINGO FUNDRAISER (Thursday, April 24, 7-9pm):  A fun-filled evening of bingo and music and refreshments, 100% of proceeds to benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Mercer County.   Tickets $25, paid in advance by cash or check payable to NAMI Mercer.

PLAN FOR WEIGHT LOSS  (Friday, April 25, 12-12:40pm;  or  Wednesday, April 30, 11:30am-12:15pm):  In this workshop you will learn an effective way to develop a strategy to lose weight that is designed to meet your needs. A practical and healthy approach to eating, that you can live with forever!   Presentor:  Joan Brame.  FREE

STRETCH AND MOVE  (Monday, April 28, 6-6:45pm;  or Tuesday, April 29, 11:30am-12:15pm):   In this workshop you will learn and practice appropriate stretching for before and after exercising. Stretching will be related to some Ballet moves.  Presentor:  Heather Walker.  FREE

SPRING RENEWAL  (Thursday, May 1, 6:30 - 7:30pm):   Spring is coming!  Positive psychologist, Diane Lang, will share methods to shed the Winter blues and cleanse yourself of toxic thoughts and emotions. Create the life you are meant to live.  Presentor: Diane Lang.  $5 members, $10 non-members

 

 

EMPOWER FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS: MAY 5 – JUNE 14, 2014

CLASSES ARE 6 SESSIONS.  PRICE INCLUDES ALL 6 SESSIONS.  NON-MEMBERS ARE WELCOME!

 

Balance & Movement:  (Friday 12:00pm-12:30pm)   New!  Learn and practice focused strength exercises and special designed fluid movement sequences to improve your balance and functional performance.

Ballroom Dance Solo:  (Tuesday 4:30pm-5:00pm)   You don’t need a partner to ballroom dance in this class!  A great cardio workout as we salsa, foxtrot, swing, tango, mambo and more!  Come join the fun!

Belly & Booty Busters:  (Wednesday 6:00pm-6:30pm, No class May 7)   This class is just what it sounds like!  Special  focus  on these trouble spots.  Get beach-ready by tightening your core & reducing belly fat.  Some mat work.

Chair Cardio:  (Monday 8:00am-8:30am)   Get your heart rate up and burn some calories all while seated to reduce the stress on leg joints.  Come join the fun!

Circuit Club :  (Thursday 1:00pm-1:30pm)   Learn a new 30 minute routine using the strength circuit machines combined with interval cardio bursts.  Fun!

Eye Opener:  (Tuesday 7:45am-8:15am)   Jump start your day with this early morning workout!  It’s a fun workout that includes cardio, weights and mat.

Forever Flexible:  (Monday 2:00pm-2:30pm)   This class is all about practicing to keep our muscles long and extending the range of motion for our joints.

Group Personal Training:   Get the benefits of personalized attention at a substantially reduced cost.  Get out of your comfort zone with this full body conditioning program designed at beginner to intermediate level.  Class size is limited.

Group Personal Training Beginner:  (Wednesday 11:15am-12:00pm)   NEW!  Get the benefits of individualized attention in this small group setting designed at a  beginner level.  A full-body conditioning program  including strength, flexibility and balance.  Work standing, seated and on the floor with modifications given for special needs.

Hatha Yoga:  (Tuesday 7:00pm-7:30pm, No class May 6)   NEW!  Hatha yoga uses asanas (individual poses) to release you from the stresses of your day.  A variety of asanas  will  work together to build strength, flexibility & a deep sense of peace and balance.  A brief meditation concludes each class.

Line Dancing:  (Friday 5:00pm-5:30pm)   Come and have fun and burn calories as you shake up the dance floor!  We’ll do some popular line dances.

Resistance Mix:  Use various equipment and your own body weight as tools to make you strong, to replace fat with lean muscle tissue to boost metabolism and keep your joints moving smoothly… all thru resistance.

Sunrise Yoga:  (Tuesday and Thursday 6:00am-7:00am)  Early morning invigorating class that incorporates M.Y.W.  signature style of Urban Wellness.  This class combines Fitness, Rejuvenation practices and Stress Management techniques with reflective breathing and mindful meditation to increase energy flow!

Instructor:  Samut Scott                  5 Classes $40        Single Class $12

 

Tai Chi:   (Tuesday 10:00am-11:00am)   An “internal” martial art for all ages to develop internal energy and balance.

Zumba:  Latin inspired routines combine both fast and slow rhythm that burn calories, tones and sculpts the body. Have some fun in this energizing workout!
