EMPOWER FITNESS IS OUT AND ABOUT IN THE COMMUNITY

Empower Fitness staff are involved in several upcoming community events, eagerly looking forward to sharing fitness thoughts with other women and networking with other health care professionals in our community.  We think it’s enjoyable and fun to meet new people and be around like-minded people.

Breast Cancer Survivorship Issues

This event takes place on Thursday, October 9 at 6:00pm at Capital Health Center in Hopewell.  Joan Brame, Ph.D. (me), owner-manager of Empower Fitness and certified cancer exercise specialist, will join experts from the Capital Health Center for Comprehensive Breast Care for a discussion of issues facing breast cancer survivors. My focus will be on exercise issues that are particularly relevant to those women who have had breast cancer. NAMI Mercer Harvest of Hope Wellness Conference

This event takes place on Saturday, October 11 from 8:30am to 3:15pm at the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville (2688 Main Street, Lawrenceville). It is NAMI Mercer’s 6th annual wellness conference for consumers, their families, and the general public. Joan Brame, owner-manager of Empower Fitness , will present a workshop entitled “Move, Groove, and Soothe Yourself” – a multi-faceted movement workshop teaching a variety of feel good fitness tools including dance movements, stretching, self-massage, and relaxation techniques.  The conference fee is $10.00 and includes lunch. Family Health and Wellness Day at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church

This event takes place on Saturday, October 11 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (1620 Prospect St., Ewing, NJ).  It is a family fun day including snacks, music, children’s activities, health screenings,  fire and safety tips, and senior care information.  Joan Malchow, Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Yoga Specialist at Empower Fitness, will join other health professionals to contribute fitness and exercise information. Caring for the Caregiver

This event takes place on Thursday, October 16 from 9:00am to 12:30pm at Robert Wood Johnson in Hamilton.   Family caregivers of seniors with long-term illnesses will gain insight into some of the challenges and issues associated with caregiving.  Joan Brame, Owner-Manager of Empower Fitness, will present a workshop entitled “Move, Groove, and Soothe Yourself” – a multi-faced movement workshop teaching a variety of feel good fitness tools including dance movements, stretching, self-massage, and relaxation techniques.  Embrace Your Beauty “Thick and Healthy” Conference

This event takes place on Saturday, November 1  from 10:00am to 3:00pm in Trenton, NJ and is sponsored by Mama Yoga Wellness and Coaching.  Joan Brame, Owner-Manager of Empower Fitness, will present a workshop entitled “Fit At Any Age” which identifies health concerns and fitness/nutrition recommendations for every decade from our 20’s to our 80’s and beyond!  For more information, email [email protected]
