The “Change It Up” Health Challenge Begins October 27
Change is hard and we believe this Challenge helps you make changes that improve your life. For several years, we have had two weight loss Challenges a year at Empower Fitness that were lots of fun and very motivating, but had a primary focus on pounds lost (and the lost pounds were often not sustained over time). This year the six-week program has been revised with an expanded focus beyond weight loss. In addition to pounds lost, increased emphasis is being placed on nutritious eating changes, changes in exercise routine, motivation, and education on healthy lifestyle issues (like metabolism, portion control, blood sugar). We are challenging women who choose to participate to make healthy lifestyle changes that make her feel better, look better, and focus better; and changes which have a higher probability of lasting!
What The Health Challenge Program Includes
This is a structured six-week program that begins on Monday, October 27 and ends on Sunday, December 7, 2014. For non-gym members, the program includes unlimited use of the gym, access to all thirty minute classes (including Belly and Booty, Chair Strength, Chair Yoga, Chair Cardio, Circuit Club, Dynamic Stretching, Gentle Stretching, Healthy Back, Line Dancing, Muscle Merengue, Resistance Mix, and Sunset Yoga, assessment by a personal Trainer, as well as enrollment in the challenge. The complete non-member cost for the six week program is $99 plus tax. Current members pay a $15 entrance fee.
How The Challenge Works
Each woman works independently to earn points based on healthy behaviors; and the individuals who earn the most points receive prizes. Each woman participant is assigned to a staff coach who monitors her progress and gives support and guidance. There are weigh-ins at the beginning of the program and at the end.

Accepting the challenge requires some commitment. Any journey begins with the first step. At the beginning of the Challenge, is the official weigh-in and identification of your staff coach. Then the work and the fun begin. The program structure and point system provide clear direction and the encouragement from other participants and staff is motivating. It is no coincidence that we do this Challenge during the pre-holiday period; a time of year known to cause many women stress, frustration, and self-neglect. This program encourages women to enter the holidays a bit more focused and energized, and to get a jump start on the new year!
