Weight Loss Challenge – Are You Ready?

Sounds crazy, doesn’t it?  Challenging yourself to be disciplined and lose weight during the most indulgent eating time of the year. But we tried holding our popular weight loss challenge during the holidays last year (2012) and it worked. Most people lost weight and felt great about it, and a lot even continued their healthy eating habits during the holidays Imagine thinking about something other than buying gifts, baking cookies, cooking food during the holidays – thinking about something like exercise, nutrition education, and healthy snacks! Check out the pictures below – they are from the Celebration we had in December last year at the end of the Weight Loss Challenge where we presented prizes to the top losers and celebrated all participants. 

Weight Loss Challenge – Here’s How it Works

     So here’s how the Holiday Weight Loss Challenge will work this year. It is a six week long contest from November 4 to December 15. When you enter the contest you receive a set of rules and are assigned to a Team led by one of our staff. You earn points from exercising, attending Nutrition and Motivation workshops, from losing pounds, and from weekly weigh-ins. You have an official weigh-in at the beginning and an official weigh-out at the end. We have a Celebration at the end when final point scores are announced, and awards are presented to the highest points for both Team and individual. Lots of fun, encouragement, support, and laughs throughout!

Weight Loss Challenge – Members and Non-Members Can Sign-up Now

      The entry fee for members for the Holiday Weight Loss Challenge is $10. Sign-ups started today at the front desk in Empower Fitness. We also have a special program for non-members this year, who would like to join the Holiday Weight Loss Challenge. The entry fee is $89.00 plus tax total; this includes unlimited use of the gym from November 1 to December 31, 10 thirty minute classes per week, the Weight Loss Contest, an initial assessment, and thirty day review.

    I miss you all and am so wishing you had a gym here on the other side of the country! Thank you for keeping me on the email list. I need to lose 5 pounds and have decided to participate in the weight lose challenge from here in Port Townsend. I’ll do my own weight checks, will sorely miss the motivational bits, but will remember the good times as I do my exercises and walks.

      How are you doing on the other side of the country? We miss you, but hope things are going well in your part of the world. The nice thing about modern technology is that, though miles apart, we can still stay connected.
      I need to lose 5 lbs also, so I have signed up and will be ready to go next Monday. I am not exactly sure about the specific elements of the challenge that work for me, but every time I do it I lose the five pounds. Actually the challenges help me maintain my weight at a healthy level.
      Now don’t forget to weigh yourself in this weekend and write it down and post it in a visible place. Then develop your healthy eating plan, do weekly weigh-ins, and give yourself points for every 30 minute workout you do during the week.

  2. I would like to join in on your challenge if possible. Also I am a member of Blue365 and I was wondering how it works to possibly joining for a membership?

    Any assistance or further information regarding my above questions would be greatly appreciated.
